The Good Life is Monotonous

What are the most important things needed to live a good life?

What are the most important things needed to live a good life?

To me … A good life is monotonous, it’s drama free, it’s a form of solitude, it’s comforting, it’s scheduled, it’s paced… Has nothing to do with what we drive, what our bank accounts look like, our friend circles, it don’t need to be extravagant to be a good life… It just needs to be quiet.

1. Boundaries… The ability to say no, to keep people at the right distance, and to protect my energy from being constantly drained by others. Most people don’t understand this, but some of us absorb everything around us, which means we have to be really intentional about what we let in.

2. Time that’s actually mine… Hours when I can think clearly without everyone else’s noise interrupting my thoughts. That whole having a schedule that works, even if other people think it’s odd, follow it.

3. The freedom to create without limits…  Being able to write my thoughts, and express myself without constantly worrying about who I might offend… My creative fire should burn as big as it wants … it’s mine, not theirs.

4. Knowing when to step back… Recognizing when I’m overwhelmed before it becomes something worse, and having the courage to disappear for as long as I need to recharge… Even if it costs some relationships.

5. Being okay with being misunderstood… People are going to judge my choices, my schedule, my need for space… I’ll let them, I know what works for me.

😁 … Life isn’t about being liked by everyone… It’s about being true to yourself, even when that truth is inconvenient for others.

      2. hmmm… the brands name is “Lunch” or is the brand a “Lunch” or are you calling me “Lunch”? Sorry…. I’m eating that one up hahahaha

      3. 😂 Haha, I see what you did there! No worries — the brand name is actually “Launch” (like launching something big and exciting), not “Lunch” (though that sounds delicious too!). But hey, if the brand ever decides to serve snacks, you’ll be the first to know! 🍔🚀

  6. Emmitt, this reflection is incredibly powerful. Your perspective on a good life being rooted in peace, boundaries, and creative freedom really resonates. The ability to say no, the space to think clearly, and the courage to step back when needed—these are all profound truths that many struggle to embrace.

Your point about being okay with being misunderstood is especially strong. Living authentically means not everyone will understand your choices, and that’s perfectly fine. What matters most is staying true to yourself, even if it doesn’t fit others’ expectations.

I love how you frame life as something that doesn’t need extravagance, but rather intention and balance. Keep sharing these reflections—they hold so much value! 💙✨

  9. A maturely noted response to lead a good life. Why choose monotony however?

    1. There are benefits to being Monotonous as well as benefits to being non-monotonous.
I choose monotony because of: Time Managment, Emotional Stability, Enhanced Focus, Quality Consistency, Stress Reduction, Developmental Skills

While Monotony gets criticized as being boring … when it’s not, it’s more of a powerful tool for building and creating stable foundations that allow areas of life to flourish and grow.
