The Extra Chip

I wonder who will make it to your list of people you ‘dislike’ πŸ€”

Another: Whole Bag Approach part 2

Β Β  Dislike… (distaste, aversion, antipathy, loathing, abhorrence, revulsion, detestation, animosity…)

Since dislike is a form of hate and hate is evil … I dislike nothing. I refuse to hate anything. Historically, the evil people in the world were needed to have good people reign, hence… Moses would have never split the Red Sea if Pharaoh didn’t exist, David would have never battled Goliath, Lincoln would have never preserved the Union without the Confederacy to oppose him.
You cannot have light without darkness, good without evil, heroes without villains. Even the worst historical figures served a purpose in the grand narrative … they created the circumstances that allowed greatness to emerge in others. Pharaoh’s oppression gave Moses his mission. Goliath’s arrogance gave David his moment. Hitler’s evil gave the world a clear reason to unite against fascism. πŸ’―
Every historical figure, even the ones who did terrible things, teaches us something valuable about human nature, about what we’re capable of both at our worst and our best. To dislike them would be to dislike the very complexity that makes history fascinating.

So no, I don’t compute “dislike lists.” I find inspiration in everything, even the dark chapters that help us appreciate the light… even the villains become part of the story worth understanding.

  1. That is why I didn’t use the word β€˜hate’ because I have the same feeling like you for that word.

β€˜Dislike’ in my opinion is a lesser evil 🫣
