Backwoods Shit: A Song From Somewhere Down in the Hollow
Some roads ain’t on no map.
Some songs probably shouldn’t be on the radio.
“Backwoods Shit” is the latest transmission from the fictional world of Buzzard Dust: Aluminum, supposedly recorded somewhere deep in the hills around Lost Creek, Alabama (Near Crooked Oak, Alabama), by a man named Everett Smiles.
The whole thing is built around that old backwoods mythology — crooked roads, moonshine jars, beat-up trucks, creek water, and the kind of stories that get told differently every time somebody tells them.
I wanted this one to feel less like a modern recording and more like some strange old record you might find buried in a box at an estate sale.
A forgotten song.
A forgotten singer.
And a 78 RPM record that probably shouldn’t have survived in the first place.
This is Buzzard Dust: Aluminum doing what Buzzard Dust does best: taking a ridiculous idea, giving it a little history, and pretending it was always there.

Some things feed a family.
Some just stain the wood.
Turn it up and head down the dirt road. 📻🌲
